Fight back!

As the days pass, anti-yaoi/yuri people are gaining more space on deviantART, and we need to stop that. That's the purpose of this protest. Actually, it's not only a protest. This is to unite all the members of deviantArt who like, support, or at least have respect for this.

We don't want a war, we want to end it... but if we have to fight for that, so be it. Those who are with us, please repost this, and add your name to those who have already signed it.

First of all...

First of all, we are not all what you call "fangirls", there are "fanboys", too. And "fangirls" are not annoying, squealing, retarded, dumb, idiots, or whatever else the yaoi-haters call them. There are some who are, but not all. "Fangirl" is just a junction of the words "Fan" and "Girl", meaning that all girls who are fans of something, be it anime/mangá, yaoi, yuri, films, actors, shows, books, etc, can be called "fangirls".

Yes, there are intelligent fangirls. Yes, both boys and girls have the right to like yaoi and/or yuri. And no, we won't stop liking it just because someone said so.

There are many who I've seen who said something like: "I love yuri, but yaoi is shit." Please, people, yaoi and yuri are almost the same. If a boy comes to me and says "You can't be serious... two boys together... that's disgusting!", I'll reply "Yes, I'm serious. You like yuri, why can't I like yaoi? It's the same."

The same if it happens the other way around. Also, if I like yaoi, I don't have to like yuri, and if I like yuri, I don't have to like yaoi. Now, I have to at least respect the people who like it, because if I say, or even just think like "I hate it", or "It's disgusting", I'll be a person with a closed mind.

Also, we don't like only fanpairings, and there are those who don't like any fanpairings. There are also yaoi anime/mangá. Understand that, too.

What about slash? There are some who like it, some who don't. Same as fanpairings, and can be included in that category.

Now...

As has been said in other protests, and by great artists like and , dA is always fast when it's to remove a devitation that contains yaoi or yuri, but is very slow when it's to check about het. Homophobia is a social disease, and has to be put to an end.

I'm not saying: "You all must like yaoi/yuri!", but yes "You must respect those who like it."

Let's leave one thing clear

We know there are some of those that declare themselves "Anti-yaoi" or "Anti-yuri" that are just 'bothered by seeing fanart of their favourite characters with others of the same genre'. Well, to those who have this as a thought, here goes some friendly advice:

1. Don't click the link, if you see that it's yaoi/yuri.
2. Don't open the devitation.
3. There's a "backwards" button, if you accidentaly go in.
4. If you don't like, just click the button mentioned above, and don't flame.

We understand that some of you just dislike it, but how do you think we feel when you do the same with two characters who don't fit? Of course, there are some who understand, and like those pairings, and some who don't. I've heard lots of "Is this what male friendship turned into?" and "Two anime characters can't even be friends now?", and I tell you that we do know how to distinguish couple from friends, and we write fanfiction about what we want to. We write about friendship, too, so don't judje us like that.

And I repeat, we don't want this war, but we're in need to fight back. I'm sorry it has come to this condition, but if we're being fought against because you want to exclude what we like from the internet, we have the right to protest. What would you think if people started to delete a thing that you like from the internet, or the place you live?

We just want to gain our own space. Here are my personal answers, by the name of , to some things people have said.

1)"Yaoi is a GENRE of anime/manga. Why do so many people think it is an essential ingredient of life? If all the yaoi anime/manga/fanworks went up in flames guess what? You wouldn't die! Oh and if it did all burn that would probably not affect the homosexual agenda at all. Chew on that one for awhile."

We know that. But if you like something a lot, wouldn't you like to see it? You also do that. If you love chocolate, for example, and then you were not permitted to eat it, at all, or all of it were burned or thrown out. Wouldn't you still want to have it? Wouldn't you try to get it? Here's your answer: yes.

2)"Yaoi is not the best genre there is, and disliking it doesn't mean you are a horrible person with bad morals."

We understand that, too. But there are people who declared war on us for posting our art, and what we like. We're just fighting back to end this, instead of submitting to other's will and proving ourselves weak in this.

3)"Two guys being in the same artwork together does not mean they are a couple. Even if they are looking at each other and are smiling! And yes this applies to official art too! It's like, omg in what universe if you are in a picture with a friend does that automatically mean you are going out?"

I think what I mentioned above counts as an answer here. We do know friendship, we understand it, we write about it. We don't say: "Oh, he looked/smiled at him! They're boyfriends!" Come on, people. We're not like that. We just pair who we think would be good together, not anyone. And also, you have no order or obligation to read/see our art.

4)"Why does not liking yaoi mean that people don't want to talk with you or be associated with you? I mean if I started a mecha hate club, nobody would dislike me for it. Yet I've had people who won't even link exchange with my free web graphics site because I refuse to include yaoi series and I link to an anti-yaoi site. Who'se being the close minded one here?"

Once again, we didn't start this. When did we go in and say "You all must like yaoi! You have no right to dislike it!", when? All we want is for you to stop this situation, and for us to get a moment of peace around here.

I hope we now have an understanding. Please, we only want a right to post our art, and enjoy other's art.

To the staff:
We do understand that dA's rules don't allow explicit mature content to be posted, but if you're going to delete the devitations that have mature content, please do so with all of them instead of just targeting the ones with homossexual themes.

The thing that gets us annoyed, and even angry at some times, is that the deleted devitations and suspended/banned artists are mainly those involved with yaoi/yuri. Now I ask you, are those the only ones who have broken the rules at times? Is there a rule or ideal on dA where it reads "Homosexual content will be priority when checking devitations to delete and artists to suspend/ban"? Will you ever understand that we only want to have a place where we won't live flooded of "you've been reported" notes and hateful comments on our tastes?

Also, there are communities, in and out of dA, that are 'dedicated to ban yaoi and yuri from the internet', and soon probably from the world. We have to stop this.

First things first; my story "Blind", I haven't updated it in a while, and I planned to put a chapter up every week...well that worked out well. I so deserve to be hit for being late. So I plan to update 2-3 chapters maybe tomorrow, if not than the weekend.

I'm up at my dad's and as bored as ever. I've been here 5 days so far and have almost been beating myself up about not doing the things I planned I would do.

I'm kinda sad really.....I put a story on here, and it's my most hit item! I was shocked when i saw that O.O However no one comments!! What the!! How can i tell people like my stuff, where i should improve and if i should even bother posting more when no one gives me feedback......

Whoa, I haven't done a journal entry since Feb. I such a idiot. Well my computer was fixed, however I lost everything, so I gotta do my sisters character profiles all over again!!! (noooo!!!) and they were finished too. (pout) Anyway might write more at the bottom.





1.What does your deviantART name mean and why?
I was really into (still am) Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and really like the Dark Brotherhood (a guild of assassins) and thought i name my account after their 'father'. I originally wanted to use their honorable 'mother', however it was already taken.

2. What fandom where you obsessed with when you joined and what are you into now?
Originally it was just Naruto ( i wanted to save all the awesome pics i found, so i could look at the again and again), now it's broadened to other animes and things. Just have a look in my favs. That should give you and idea

3. How many watchers do you have now?
6 how pitiful. but then again i kinda suck when it comes to drawing...though i've told that my fan-fics are not too bad.

Everything. I can maybe draw one eye...then I'd try to do the other one....and well.....yeah well.

Winter, definitely. You can always get more blankets, snuggle with a loved one untill your nice and warm. In the summer you can only go as far until your nude, and if your still hot, then your screwed.

Rain....though i don't like it raining all the time, get's kinda depressing.

Anything as long as it isn't Rap or Metal....though i'm starting to like some rap....it depends on the song.

PC, love them. will always use them.

Anime....though sometimes the manga is better

My family used to always get Pepsi from KFC, as dad's didn't like coke....though i kinda like coke, just not everyday. Too sugary.

My hard drive decided to die on me. No!!! Why!! While i wait for the new laptop to come, i nearly pull my hair out freaking about all my lost data. I nearly broke down, when i read the email. I have to go looking for all my saved images and stories again, some I'm sure never to find again!

Anyway, when i get it back, i have to use my (old) back ups to restore my files. Hopefully my sister's character sheets will still be there, and hopefully i'll be able to put them on soon. Stupid laptop.
